The work done by many engineering professions requires extremely accurate measurements of the earths surface. It is the job of a surveyor to obtain these measurements. This is done through many different technical such as GPS, photogrammetry, and of course the more familiar method of using of total stations. Surveying is not only used to collect data for engineering projects. It is also a means of determining and laying out boundaries. All these uses and methods are covered in SIUC's surveying program.
