Influent Waste Characteristics

Note: The acceptable range is 0.2 to 250 MGD.

What is the peak flow to the plant?MGD
Note: The acceptable range is 0.2 to 500 MGD. In addition, the acceptable range for the peaking factor (peak flow/average flow) is 1.0 to 3.5.

What is the average influent BOD5?mg/L
Note: The acceptable range is 75 to 1000 mg BOD/L.

What is the average influent TSS?mg/L
Note: The acceptable range is 75 to 1000 mg TSS/L.

The parameters below have estimated typical values that will be used by default. You may change any value. However, you must stay within the acceptable range listed.

What is the percentage of total influent BOD that is soluble? %.
Note: The acceptable range is 35 to 65 %.

What is the expected minimum winter water temperature? C
Note: The acceptable range is 10 to 20 C.

 

Required Effluent Characteristics

Note: The acceptable range is 20 to 40 mg/L.

NOTE: The typical range for the effluent soluble BOD is 4 to 10 mg/L.

 

Primary Sedimentation

What is the estimated TSS removal at primary sedimentation? %.
Note: The acceptable range is 40 to 80 %.

What is the estimated BOD removal at primary sedimentation? %.
Note: The acceptable range is 20 to 50 %.

What is the approximate primary waste sludge concentration? % Solids. NOTE: The typical range for waste primary sludge solids is 4 to 10 %.

 

Activated Sludge and Waste Secondary (Activated) Sludge

What is the approximate value of the yield coefficient, Y? mg VSS/mg BOD5. NOTE: The typical range for the yield coefficient is 0.4 to 0.8 mg VSS/mg BOD5.

What is the approximate value of the endogenous decay coefficient, kd? /day. NOTE: The typical range for the endogenous decay coefficient is 0.025 to 0.075 /d.

What is the approximate value of the mean cell residence time (MCRT)? days. NOTE: The typical range for the mean cell residence time is 5 to 15 days.

What is the approximate secondary waste sludge concentration? % Solids. NOTE: The typical range for waste secondary sludge solids is 0.5 to 1.5 %. This is also the return activated sludge (RAS) concentration.

Trickling Filter (Packed Tower)

What is the treatability constant at 20 C and a height of 20 ft.? (Gal/min)0.5/ft.2
Note: The acceptable range is 0.06 to 0.12 (Gal/min)0.5/ft.2

What is the approximate waste RBC sludge concentration? % Solids.
