Due: Friday, February 15thGroundwater Remediation Using Activated CarbonWork as a team of two for this assignment. Click here to register your team . Note: There was a typographical error on the original page. The concentration of ß-Endosulfan in the contaminated water is 0.6 mg/L NOT 6 mg/L. Deliverables: Spreadsheet with calculations (required), written design with explanations (optional) and drawings (optional). This project will be presented during class. See the next design assignment. The Illinois EPA has ordered a local pesticide storage facility to remediate contaminated groundwater in the area of their facility. The water contains 0.6 mg/L of ß-Endosulfan. The wood treatment facility plans to treat the contaminated groundwater at a rate of 100 gal/min. The maximum effluent concentration is 0.01 mg/L. Design a treatment facility for this flow using either multiple columns, or a single moving bed adsorber. The process must be designed for continuous operation. The breakthrough data is available in this spreadsheet .
